Jim Burhorn
Jim Burhorn was a healthy 59-year-old man living in Colorado when he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. After removing part of his pancreas, Jim’s doctors recommended a promising treatment. But Jim would have to travel to Switzerland for the treatment because the FDA hasn’t yet approved it in the United States. Jim was afraid if he took the time to travel back-and-forth to Switzerland, he would lose his job. Then Jim learned about state Right to Try laws, which allowed him to get treated right here in the United States.
Jim spent the first week of May 2017 hiking the Grand Canyon with his boys, a memory that would not have been possible without the Right to Try.
